Microsoft Outlook 2002/XP
Follow the procedure below to setup Outlook 2002 for use with your Smart Solutions email account. The only information you need to know before starting the setup process, is your email address, and your password, which you should have received when you requested your account.
-
Start Outlook how you normally do. For example, by clicking on the icon on the desktop, in the Start Menu, or from the icons along the bottom of your screen.
-
Choose "Email Accounts" from the Tools menu. If you don't see this option. you may have to click the "Chevron" at the bottom of the menu, to un-hide it.
-
Make sure "Add a new account" is checked, and click "Next."
-
Choose POP3, and click "Next."
-
-
Your "user name" is your full email address: yourname@yourdomain.com.
-
Your password was assigned to you. Unless you have changed it, it will be the one you received when you requested your account.
If you have not yet changed your password and would like to do that now,
click here for directions on how to accomplish this.
-
Enter your password in the appropriate field.
-
The "Incoming Mail Server" is simply "mail.yourdomain.com." For example, if your email address was user@websitenet.com, your mail server would be mail.website.net. The "Outgoing Mail Server" is the same.
-
-
Make sure the top checkbox, "My out going server requires authentication" is checked. Make sure "Use same settings as my Incoming mail server" is selected, and click "OK".
-
Click the "Test Account Settings" button. All 5 items should end up with a green checkmark next to them, indicating that the particular function is working properly.
-
Click "Next", then "Finish." Your new email account setup is finished, and you can now start sending and receiving email.
